Google Upgrades Webmaster Central to Handle More Sitemap Types

Category: Google Places (Maps & Local) – Mike Blumenthal – 6:42 pm

It appears that Google has upgraded the Add Sitemap feature at Webmaster Central to accommodate a broader range of media types on a site that might not be accurately reflected or have enough context in a traditional sitemap file:

  1. I just tried to upload a GEO sitemap to my existing site, but is says I already uploaded one. I also did the same for Video site map and got the same message.

But I only uploaded one site map a long time ago, so perhaps it automatically added the new features?

  2. Did you give it a distinct name from your original sitemap?
