Understanding Google My Business & Local Search
Loci 2008 – The Year in Local Search
With Miriam’s article, Loci 2008 is now at an end.
To (in order of appearance): Matt Cutts, Matt McGee, David, Mihm, Greg Sterling, Will Scott, Andrew Shotland, Michael Jensen, Martijn Beijk, Jen Chin (aka Mapsguide Jen), Ahmed Farooq, Rand Fishkin & Miriam Ellis: Thanks!
I have really enjoyed the many contributions highlighting 2008 in local search. The process has been fun and informative. It has provided an incredible range and depth of articles from an incredible range and depth of people.
For those of you that have missed some of these articles you may read them here. For those of you that follow local closely, you will find some gems. For those of you that don’t and want an overview of an exciting year, it’s all there.

Mike: Thanks for putting this effort together. Its VERY worthwhile. Lots of wonderful commentators with experience covering a lot of topics. On the one hand there is a lot of agreement that both David’s and your articles on the elements that impact Local/Maps were incredibly vital. I agree with all those comments. On the other hand, the wide variety of commentators referenced all sorts of gems that I had missed. Its a terrific package and summary of commentary on local. Great idea/Good work.

Great stuff, thank you for organizing, instigating and publishing. You and each of the contributor’s really made local search a fun pond to play in during 2008.
As Mark Twain said. “A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds.”
But Gib, that quote begs the question: Who’s the crank? You or me. Despite what my wife says, it isn’t me….
Glad you enjoyed the series….it just dawned on me that I should have asked you as well…ooops sorry.
Mike
Uh, Mike,
I hate to break it to you but, um, she’s right.
🙂
[…] I’ve been so busy with the turn of the year that I forgot to mention that I had a rare opportunity to contribute to Mike Blumenthal’s Loci 2008. […]
