Whoa. I can’t say this is bad news. But a little too late. And doesn’t make things any less confusing for the SMB.
Thanks for the scoop, Mike.
I don’t think the folks at G Local have “Make things less confusing for SMBs” as one of the bullet points on their publishing checklist 🙂
@Phil
I agree day late but not a dollar short. It would have been most helpful BEFORE all of the dashboards were converted but there are still some that will benefit. And it does show that Google at least listens.
@Gene
Check back in a week or so. 🙂
I’m only kidding of course. Google has certainly expressed ambitions of streamlining things and I applaud them for that. Yahoo could learn something here if they still give a hoot.
Google sure does make thing complicated with every new layer that add. Feel like it’s a full time job just to keep up with them!
Hurray! I don’t know how many clients I have out there with twin company G+ pages….one local, one brand.
This is nice to see, but as long as these two URL’s both continue to exist, confusion will continue to reign –
http://www.google.com/business/placesforbusiness/
http://www.google.com/+/business
so frustrating – and like Michael, we have a bunch of clients with “both” but I don’t think this change affects them… or can it? Will we go back to trying to merge pages (a.k.a ‘review purging’) ?
Scott – it is easy enough and I would encourage you to simply delete the “backup”. And google gives you that choice at the end of the
Process.
