Understanding Google My Business & Local Search
Google Starts Promoting My Business With Personalized Direct Email & Hangout
Google has started sending out very customized emails in an effort to attract businesses to their new My Business Page. It will be interesting to see how much and how lavishly Google promotes My Business. It really is the first time in a number of years that they have a place to send an SMB that makes sense.
Interestingly Google has also reached out to the Local SEO community on this rollout. Something they have never really done in the past. Will Jade become the Matt Cutts of Local? It’s nice to see the outreach.
This My Business Q & A Hangout on June, 19th is for agencies that have local clients.

I shared the Hangout earlier today but had not see or heard about the emails yet, so that’s interesting. Thanks Mike!
Yes I was surprised that they did the special Hangout last week for some of the Local Search bloggers that are outside the TC circle. That made a lot of sense for them to do it, but again is outside the norm of what we’ve seen in the past.
I think Max Minzer was right when he said something like: Google Local is outgrowing it’s awkward teen years and starting to come of age. Outreach and PR, those are things mature companies do.
Jade, the Matt Cutts of Local! 😉 I called Vanessa that once. It’s exciting to see GMB get more social and communicative.
@Linda
Time will tell. We certainly have been in need of more communication right along and this is nice to see. The real question is will they reach out to new businesses and will they continue to upgrade My Business so that there is a reason for every business to return on a regular basis. Here’s hoping.
