General Admission $12

Folk in Fredonia Music Series "Extra"
Creating new settings for old-time tunes is what the members of Abe's
Lily say they do, by using banjos, bass, bouzouki and quattro to blend
melodies and rhythms into something fresh and exciting. They call it
"New Traditional Music." With Laurence Sugarman on banjos, Laurie
Hunt on bass and Mark Warford on bouzouki and quattro, the group will
have you tapping your feet and singing along in no time.
Add to that a savory blend of acoustic bluegrass, Celtic and
traditional music from City Fiddle and the result is a great evening
of time-honored folk music. With Phil Banaszak on fiddle, mandolin
and guitar, Gretchen Banaszak on fiddle and viola and Chris Panfil on
fiddle, mandolin, banjo, harmonica and guitar, this threesome from
Buffalo represents the best in folk musicians that western New York
has to offer!

SEPT. 11- 13 GREENWOOD FURNACE FOLK FESTIVAL
It's time to register for the Greenwood Furnace Folk Gathering! Come
join us September 11-13 in central Pennsylvania for a fun and
friendly weekend of playing and listening to folk music - a fantastic
three days of workshops, concerts, jams, dancing and friendship.
Activities are held at Greenwood Furnace State Park in central PA,
about 30 miles from State College and 90 miles from Harrisburg. This
is a gorgeous location with beautiful mountain views, miles of hiking
trails, and a six acre lake for swimming and fishing.
Musicians of all instruments and levels are welcome, and there are
also options for singers, dancers, and non-musicians. There's a
choice of about 45 workshops on topics ranging from old time tunes to
harmony singing to arranging music. Jam sessions will take place
throughout the weekend. You'll have a chance to perform at open stage
and also as part of a group performance Saturday evening.
For those who are new to music, there will be dulcimers and autoharps
for you to rent for the weekend or borrow for a workshop, and we'll
have gentle and patient teachers to get you started. There will be a
staff concert each evening, followed by staff-led jams, singing
around the bonfire, and a contradance with open band.
The cost for the weekend is $65 if postmarked by August 1 and $80
afterwards. The fee includes all workshops, jams, concerts, and
dancing. A meal package with 3 meals Saturday and 2 meals Sunday is
available for $45.
Camping is available by calling the park 8am-4pm at 814/667-1800. Let
them know you are part of the folk gathering, so that you may camp in
the area by the workshop activities. There are also hotels about 15
miles away.
