David is a seasoned caller from Syracuse who has a knack for making

His taste in dances is eclectic, and he loves to present a wide
variety of dances. Davids repertoire includes plenty of New England
contras, as well as an assortment of squares, singing calls, mixers,
old chestnuts and freshly minted dances.

Are you looking for a different way to spend a Saturday night? Can
you count to eight and walk in time to music? If so, look no further
than 112 South Clinton Street, where on the second Saturday of the
fall and winter months the Southern Tier Contra Dance Society (STCDS)
sponsors a traditional form of social dance known as contra dancing.
This style of dance uses some of the same moves as square dancing
(e.g., swing, dos-a-do), but is done in lines. It requires no fancy
footwork and all dances are taught by a caller. We welcome people of
all ages and ability levels, so come out even if you know nothing
about contra dancing. You'll learn very quickly. Entire families are
invited to join the fun.

We always have live music and a live caller. All ages and levels are
welcome, and there is no need to bring a partner. All dances will
be taught. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Bring cool
clothing even if the weather is freezing, as you will get warm!
