{"id":8529,"date":"2010-12-13T15:53:53","date_gmt":"2010-12-13T19:53:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/?p=8529"},"modified":"2010-12-13T15:53:53","modified_gmt":"2010-12-13T19:53:53","slug":"google-category-tool-updated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/13\/google-category-tool-updated\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Category Tool Updated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have updated the <a href=\"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/index.php?Google_LBC_Categories\">Google Places Category Tool<\/a> with a &#8220;dump&#8221; of current\u00a0categories and synonyms.<\/p>\n<p>From the last time we updated the data a year ago, Google deleted 170 categories and 1922 synonyms, leaving exactly 1900 primary categories in the list. Most of the deleted categories were plural duplicates of existing categories. I.E. &#8220;Surgeons&#8221; was deleted as a stand alone category and added as a synonym to the category &#8220;Surgeon&#8221;. For the compulsive amongst you here is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blumenthals.com\/Google -categories-deleted.html\">list<\/a> of deleted categories and synonyms.<\/p>\n<p>In that timeframe\u00a0Google has also added only three new categories;\u00a0Airport ,\u00a0Car Sharing Location and Electric Vehicle Charging Station. They also added 11 new synonyms; airport, international airport, international, flights, arrivals, intl, int, aeropuerto, air port, flughafen.<\/p>\n<p>To search the current Google categories go to our <a href=\"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/index.php?Google_LBC_Categories\">Google Places Category Tool<\/a>.
