Google has located the lost village of Sunrise Fl. Word is that champagne is being opened for breakfast. Mimosas are being served all around.<\/p>\n<p>The say that it is always darkest hour just before the dawn. The seems particularly true for the businesses of Sunrise, Fl whose town seems to have been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/support\/forum\/p\/maps\/thread?tid=6760ced0bfabac7d&amp;hl=en\">misplaced by Google<\/a> for the second time in two years. As Sherry Tannozzini, owner of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flowersfromtherainflorist.com\/\">Flowers from the Rainfloris<\/a>t, noted in her <a href=\"http:\/\/floristblogs.com\/blogs\/flowers_from_the_rainflorist\/archive\/2009\/10\/19\/google-smoogle-2-and-flowers-from-the-rainflorist.aspx\">blog<\/a>: <em>Google\u2026.the amazing search engine can find a gnat\u2019s pahtootie in Mozambique but can\u2019t keep two cities in Florida, located on opposite sides of the State and spelled differently in their right location. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Whenever a user <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?client=safari&amp;rls=en&amp;q=florist%20sunrise%20fl&amp;oe=UTF-8&amp;um=1&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;sa=N&amp;hl=en&amp;tab=wl\">searches for a business in Sunrise, FL<\/a>, located on the east coast of Florida, the results are returned for businesses in Sarasota, Fl. which is on the west coast of Florida (Sunset, FL?).<\/p>\n<p>The change, which was fixed at one time during the <a href=\"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/2008\/09\/19\/google-maps-now-using-teleatlas-data-exclusively\/\">pre TeleAtlas times<\/a>, seems to have reverted to bad data as a result of the recent Google Maps <a href=\"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/12\/google-replaces-tele-atlas-data-in-us-with-google-data\/\">switch from use of TeleAtlas base map data<\/a> to using their own.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/sunrise-gone-wrong.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"sunrise-gone-wrong\" src=\"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/sunrise-gone-wrong.jpg\" alt=\"sunrise-gone-wrong\" width=\"520\" height=\"468\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The error was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/support\/forum\/p\/maps\/thread?tid=6760ced0bfabac7d&amp;hl=en\">reported<\/a> via the Google Maps <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/support\/bin\/answer.py?hl=en&amp;answer=162873\">Report An Error<\/a> link and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/support\/forum\/p\/maps\/thread?tid=6760ced0bfabac7d&amp;hl=en\">via the forums<\/a>. It will be an interesting test to see how quickly Google is able to respond to serious Map errors.<\/p>\n<p>In the Google Maps <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/support\/bin\/answer.py?hl=en&amp;answer=162873\">Report a Problem FAQ<\/a> Google notes:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In some cases we might not be able to immediately confirm a solution to your problem.
