{"id":3824,"date":"2009-06-11T13:56:52","date_gmt":"2009-06-11T17:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/?p=3824"},"modified":"2009-06-11T14:07:25","modified_gmt":"2009-06-11T18:07:25","slug":"googlebase-and-local-business-center-experiment-to-encourage-more-lbc-participation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/2009\/06\/11\/googlebase-and-local-business-center-experiment-to-encourage-more-lbc-participation\/","title":{"rendered":"GoogleBase and Local Business Center experiment to encourage more LBC participation?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday Google <a href=\"http:\/\/googlebase.blogspot.com\/2009\/06\/local-business-information-and-store.html\">announced<\/a> at the GoogleBase blog that they&#8217;ve &#8220;begun experimenting with exposing store locations in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/products\">Google Product Search<\/a>&#8230;.\u00a0We think this will help users find nearby store locations, and help merchants get foot traffic into their stores&#8221; (thanks to\u00a0<a class=\"url\" rel=\"external nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/PeterWyspianski\">Peter Wyspianski<\/a> for pointing this out).<\/p>\n<p>Google is inviting existing GoogleBase users to submit their local business locations to the LBC either manually or via bulk upload. If it is done via Bulk they are asking that the business\u00a0fill out\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/base.google.com\/support\/bin\/request.py?contact_type=lbc\">this form<\/a> to help them associate the Local Business Center data with the correct Google Base account.<\/p>\n<p>It is not clear whether Google plans on showing inventory data in Maps any time soon but do seem to be planning to correlate product information with related local store locations in GoogleBase.
