Today Robin Goad of <a href=\"http:\/\/weblogs.hitwise.com\/robin-goad\/2009\/03\/google_maps_visits_following_street_view_uk_launch.html\">Hitwise reports<\/a> a huge jump in traffic for Google Maps in the UK:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/weblogs.hitwise.com\/robin-goad\/UK_Internet_visits_to_Google_maps_following_launch_of_streetview_march_2009_chart.png\" alt=\"Google Maps Adds Steetview in UK and see traffic increase\" width=\"507\" height=\"406\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There was an attendant increase in visit duration as well:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/weblogs.hitwise.com\/robin-goad\/Google_maps_average_session_time_increase_following_street_view_uk_lanch_march_2009_chart.png\" alt=\"average visit time for Google Maps UK\" width=\"497\" height=\"417\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is interesting to note that the average visit time for UK visitors was significantly less than that of the worldwide <a href=\"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/2009\/03\/09\/google-maps-vs-mapquest-user-engagement\/\">average time for Maps users <\/a>but that the rollout seems to, at least temporarily, put the two population&#8217;s average time at parity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday\u00a0released\u00a0a bunch of new Street View images for cities in the UK and The Netherlands.
