Yesterday (Friday), The Mayor of DC declared<\/a> part of a street that runs near the White House “Black Lives Matter Plaza”, inaugurating the new plaza with giant yellow letters and a brand-new street sign.<\/p>\n

Today (h\/t to co-worker Hector Rovira<\/a>) Google Maps has already been updated<\/a> to reflect this new name of the street and the plaza.<\/p>\n

There are many things that Google Maps could do better, no doubt. But in terms of their ability to keep Maps updated to reflect the ever changing reality on the ground is worth a shout out. (Note the comment on nearby St Johns).<\/p>\n
