{"id":18098,"date":"2015-05-21T20:29:41","date_gmt":"2015-05-22T00:29:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/?p=18098"},"modified":"2015-05-21T20:32:40","modified_gmt":"2015-05-22T00:32:40","slug":"using-a-twitter-stream-to-reinforce-mobile-local-branding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/2015\/05\/21\/using-a-twitter-stream-to-reinforce-mobile-local-branding\/","title":{"rendered":"Using A Twitter Stream to Reinforce Mobile Local Branding on Google"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently Google+ posts\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/adwords.blogspot.com\/2015\/05\/delivering-right-information-in-your-ads.html\">stopped<\/a> showing up in the knowledge panel and\u00a0Twitter content <a href=\"http:\/\/adwords.blogspot.com\/2015\/05\/delivering-right-information-in-your-ads.html\">started<\/a> showing up in real time in Google mobile searches.<\/p>\n<p>The only value to an SMB of using Plus and the only reason I recommended it was that it put messaging and an image on the front page of Google search. That post conveyed a positive brand message AND pushed &#8220;people also search for&#8221; competitors below the fold on many displays. It was a once a month, easy to implement tactic where an SMB could simply cross post content from Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>It would seem that Twitter content can now provide a similar and perhaps even better alternative for local businesses to push their marketing message into Branded search results on Google mobile search results. It seems like it would be a simple matter to cross post from Facebook as way to achieve some additional, controlled exposure on \u00a0a Google\u00a0branded search.<\/p>\n<p>Minimally it makes great sense as a way to control front page content on Google for reputation management.<\/p>\n<p>I have never recommended Twitter for local before.
