{"id":17943,"date":"2015-04-15T15:15:28","date_gmt":"2015-04-15T19:15:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/?p=17943"},"modified":"2015-04-16T12:50:34","modified_gmt":"2015-04-16T16:50:34","slug":"growth-in-the-use-of-near-me-in-searches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/2015\/04\/15\/growth-in-the-use-of-near-me-in-searches\/","title":{"rendered":"Growth in the Use of &#8220;Near Me&#8221; in Searches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have previously <a href=\"http:\/\/blumenthals.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/04\/nearby-a-proxy-for-voice-based-mobile-search\/\">noted<\/a> the growth of &#8220;near me&#8221; and &#8220;near by&#8221; in mobile search.<\/p>\n<p>With the advent of mobile computing those phrases have moved rapidly into the search lexicon among phone searches.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent article at Think With Google, Matt Lawson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkwithgoogle.com\/features\/i-want-to-go-micro-moments.html\">noted<\/a>: <em>Google search interest in &#8220;near me&#8221; has increased 34X since 2011 and nearly doubled since last year. The vast majority come from mobile\u201480% in Q4 2014.<\/em>. The article also noted that these types of searches were more common amongst travelers, more frequent on weekends and frequently focused on restaurant and food related searches.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly these types of searches occur in some vertical more than others but the &#8220;near me&#8221; really mirrors the growth of smart phones.
