There have been numerous reports<\/a>\u00a0in the Google Maps Troubleshooting Group<\/a> over the past few days of missing locations in Maps. Here’s Sparky description the problem:<\/p>\n

I’m an avid user of Google Maps, and have between 50 and 100 saved\u00a0locations, that auto-complete when I type in the search box, in\u00a0addition to being able to edit them using the arrow link to the right\u00a0of the search box.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

As late as last Friday the 7th of November, I was using my saved\u00a0locations to get directions, etc. \u00a0This evening, I clicked a “Map\u00a0This” link from GMail to add another saved location, and it was the\u00a0only one present in the list. \u00a0I was using Firefox 3 at the time, and\u00a0have since closed out, and signed back in, both with Firefox 3 and IE\u00a06, but much to my dismay, the only location available is the one that\u00a0I just clicked on from the e-mail. \u00a0My default location is no longer\u00a0set, and none of the old ones appear, even when using the “Edit Saved\u00a0Locations” link by the search box.\u00a0Also, the “Save locations\u00a0automatically” box is still, and always has been, checked for me.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Google has\u00a0acknowledged\u00a0the problem and promised a fix in an email sent<\/a> this morning by Maps Guide Mike:<\/p>\n

We’re currently fixing a problem that has caused some people to lose
\naccess to their saved locations (addressbook) data. The data should be
