OCTOBER 21- HAMBURG, NY

The Missing Persons Soup Kitchen Gospel Quartet will be giving a concert

Saturday, Oct 21, 2006
7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Wayside Presbyterian church
5017 Lakeshore Road
Hamburg, NY 14075
Call 716-627-9010 for more information.
A free will offering will be collected.
The original bluegrass and folk duo, Chris and Mark Panfil, the
Panfil Brothers will open the show.

Soup Kitchen, whose full name is The Missing Person Soup Kitchen
Gospel Quartet, has performed at fairs, festivals, concert halls, and
churches around West Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Indiana,
and in the Washington DC area. Bill Kimmons, Becky Kimmons, and the
recently added Dock Cutlip -- have been around in one form or another
since 1982. They are based in Charleston, West Virginia.

Just as a trio of bass, cello and viola would be unusual, Soup
Kitchen's vocal mix of contralto, bass and tenor/baritone makes for
an unusual sound.
The members of Soup Kitchen are often amused when listeners describe
them as "those people who sing with no music." They sometimes take
the opportunity to gently point out that they make music with built-
in instruments, their voices. They are a human string trio that might
be compared to bass fiddle, cello, and viola, except that the Soup
Kitchen instruments tell stories, and the rhythm and percussion are
made of words.

It's hard to pin down just exactly what Soup Kitchen does. When they
sing gospel, it's not the southern gospel you might expect, and their
renditions of songs from the repertoire of American favorites bear
their own stamp. Their Soup Kitchen name began as a joke, but they
like the idea of dishing out ample portions of fun and spine-tingling
harmony to whomever comes down the line.
