BINGHAMTON, NY FEB 16
Binghamton Traditional Irish Music Open Session
Thursday, February 16th at 7PM
Ancient Order of Hibernians Club
148 Main St, Binghamton NY.
The session usually starts around 7ish and proceeds until 10:00 to
10:30pm. ( Sometimes we go later if we are having fun and if there is
a crowd.)

Once a month, we hold an open all Irish music traditional session at
the AOH hall. It is hosted by vocalist and multi- instrumentalist
Anna Lisa Quinn. Ms. Quinn usually brings her celtic harp and
hammered dulcimer to the session. Session regulars are concertina
player Scott Craver, Jim & Jean Haggerty on Penny Whistle and
Concertina, and depending on who attends, we may be graced with the
musical talents of some fine fiddlers. The session is a mix of
instrumental traditional irish and there are also vocal songs done in
gaelic and english. Due to the availablility of other sessions in
the Binghamton area on other nights of the week where old time and
blue grass are featured, at the Binghamton Irish traditional session,
the session content of this particular session is exclusively 100%
Irish traditional.

The session is open to intermediate to advanced musicians who know
the Irish traditional session repetoire. We ofen have an
enthusiastic and very informed audience at the AOH hall. When the
music is inspiring, every so often at the AOH an member will be moved
to spontaneously get up and start doing traditional Irish dance. It
is always an honor to we traditional musicians when our music moves
someone to get up and start dancing! The session is suitable for
those musicians who are comfortable playing in front of an audience.
There is no cover charge and the AOH opens its doors to the public on
the night of the Irish traditional session. The AOH is very
hospitable to the traditional musicians who come to play music at the
open session. For further information, please email session hostess
Anna Lisa Quinn at: annalisaq at earthlink.net
