   From its inception, TuneScape has been exploring music outside the  
bounds of New England contra dance. Tunes of Quebec, Appalachia,  
Ireland, and elsewhere are woven into their repertoire, and they  
attempt to stretch the format of traditional dance music. Still,  
their interest in other genres generates an obsession with rhythmic  
integrity and the sustaining pulse that is the essence of dance  
music. The listener could never miss the underlying drive of much of  
TuneScape's music.
