Nice list. It is very important for small businesses to get listed in these local business directories as they are used directly by the customers.

Here is another local business directory: http://www.lacartes.com, where any business can list for free, upload photos, prices, videos and more and be seen by thousands of customers every month.

Thanks for this post. I’m just starting out and trying to get listed on as many directories as I can and this has pointed out some that I never even knew about!
Trouble is that with some of them I’ve found that as soon as you place a free listing they call you up and start pressuring you to buy a featured listing.
Scoot (which is noticeably absent from here) was the worst so far. Within FIVE MINUTES of me placing the listing they phoned up and started some high pressure selling. I’ve had similar from other companies.
With a home based business with virtually no budget for advertising, I’m not about to go down that route.
I’ve been reluctant to even take out a free listing on Yell for the same reason.

The local seo tools from Bright Local look nice, but CitationBurst looks like it will clearly violate the terms of service for the sites where it generates citations. Further, in the US the NY Attorney General fined Lifestyle Lift $300,000 because of their fake consumer reviews written by employees.
