Just for Good Luck – Google has Different Test with Floating Map

Category: Google Places (Maps & Local) – Mike Blumenthal – 11:42 am

While poking through markets and verticals looking for examples of the new integrated local and organic search result I came across this hybrid result that keeps the 7 Pak but moves the map to float along the right side of the results when a user scrolls down (click to view larger):

  1. Hi Mike,

Good find… I notice from your screen shot above Google have added a new Place Page link (I assume it is a clickable link) to the local listing (similar to the one box change)… it appears the business name anchor text is still linked to the business website which is pleasing to see.

I don’t really see the benefit of this change compared to the initial test SERP, apart from the floating map, seems like a less efficient use of SERP space.

    Cheers,
