Hi David-

Thanks. The issue of providing more GoogleBase results of more granular information also has the affect of seeming more accurate to the searcher.

One of the problems with Maps/Local is that since Google etc is attempting to present the listing of actual businesses (rather than a list of mostly relevant webpages) both the searcher and the business listed have a tendency to "be annoyed" when the results do not match on the ground reality. Searchers expect quality web pages in the SERPS and likewise expect "reasonably accurate" listings from GoogleBase. No one expects a GoogleBase listing to be perfect and thus their expecations are more easily met with relevant database results rather than questionable Local OneBox results.

I am curious what you mean when you refer to GoogleBase maps?

Interesting idea about GoogleBase becoming more prominent. Danny definitely alluded to "Google Real Estate" being on the horizon earlier this summer at SMX Seattle. At the very least, it takes up less of the screen, which is nice from an SEO standpoint, but I am wondering if soon enough they will start to display GoogleBase maps instead of Google Local Maps in the same space...
