[...] Mike over at Blumenthals has an interesting article about the Endoxon aquisition. Thanks for the update btw. Still it’s a little confusing to me. Guess their understanding of geotargeted search is different to what mine would be. [...]

Frank, thanks for stopping by.

I visited http://map.search.ch/ mentioned in the Google Operating System blog and I was impressed with both the imagery and the speed of a product that functions more like Google Earth than Google Maps does.

Very neat indeed.

my guess is that endoxon is more of a technology acquisition than a data provider. they do neat things with ajax layering on the maps and basically running on tele-atlas data which they back fill with other sources here and there. the poi and business infos are provided by yellowpages players like goyellow or local.ch etc. who partnered with endoxon as their maps provider... So they would be in the position to do it, technically speaking.
cheers

Reuben

I had seen the reports of the acquisition but hadn't given it much thought because they were speaking in terms of Europe.

It looks like 2007 is gearing up to be a fun year.

I wonder if this capability will be offered when they switch to the Endoxon data.
